Romans 6:5-14
What Do You Do With Jesus?
A Christian is in an indivisible union with Jesus.
“united with Him in His death”
—Gr: “be one with”
Amplified Bible
Verse 6 “We know that our old (unrenewed) self was nailed to the cross with Him in order that [our] body
[which is the instrument] of sin might be made ineffective and inactive for evil, that we might no longer be slaves of sin.”
Verse 7 “For when a man dies,
he is freed (loosed, delivered)
from [the power of] sin.”
Colossians 1:3,
“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ
in God.”
Our relationship with Jesus is not simply intellectual assumptions, nor can it be explained mathematically.
It is relational and real.
The second subject is life (8) “we will also live with Him.”
V. 9 What advantage did Jesus gain through resurrection?
“death no longer has mastery,
or power, over Him”
What advantage do you have since you are “in Christ”?
V. 14 “sin shall not be your master”
How do we transition from death to life in our daily experience?
1. V. 11—“count or consider” is a mental assent:
“This is True!”
Our will must follow
what we know.
2. V. 13—“offer or present”
as an act of your will,
yourself to God.
Philippians 2:13
“It is God who works in you to will and to act according to
His good purpose.”
“You have been given
fullness in Christ”
in whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwells.
Colossians 2:9,10
